For over 25 years, Andersen Log Homes Company has been building custom, hand crafted log homes, cabins and commercial structures one log and one notch at a time. We build with the Scandinavian full scribe method, specializing in large timber using the interlocking “V-Joint” notch.
Andersen Log Homes Company was founded in 1989 by Jon and Beth Andersen off I -94 in Monticello, MN. We relocated to Walker, MN in 1996, where Jon first fell in love with log homes when he peeled his first log in 1980 when he started his apprenticeship. Jon’s passion and enthusiasm for building log homes continues today and is seen in each and every home that Andersen Log Homes crafts.
Andersen Log Homes Company builds hand crafted log homes, cabins and commercial structures, specializing in large timber ranging from 10” to 36” in diameter Each home is built to the home owner’s specifications and desires. We have built over 280 log structures in the United States and Internationally. Our experienced master craftsmen ensure your home is the tightest fitting, most energy efficient log home available.
Jon Andersen is passionate about building log homes and takes pride in each and every home that Andersen Log Homes builds. Jon will work with you from conception to your completed log home. Once you decide that you want Andersen Log Homes to build your log home, we locate and hand select the logs. Our standard log wood species is white pine, which is cut and air-dried, or kiln dried; but we also offer Engelmann spruce, dead standing lodge pole pine, Western red cedar and red pine. Each log is debarked and then hand peeled. Jon decides the placement of each log in every home, ensuring home owners who want character logs to be highlighted in the right location. All logs walls are full length, there are no logs butted together. The log shell is pre-built on Andersen Log Homes site, and once it is completed, the shell is loaded onto semi-trailers then brought to the home owner’s site. The log shell is reassembled by Jon and the Andersen Log Homes crew on the home owner’s site. It usually takes one to three days to reassemble the home, but this depends on the size and complexity of the design. Most of the door and window openings are cut after the log shell is reassembled on the home owner’s site.
We guarantee our work, and Jon works on each home while he oversees and trains each log peeler and craftsman. We have architectural services we can recommend to design your log home, along with general contractors who can provide you a “Turn-Key” or fully finished log home. If you choose to be your own general , we have sub- contractors that we recommend
