All our outdoor furniture is made from 100% untreated Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata). Why?

SUSTAINABILITY – Independent studies prove that when it comes to environmental performance, Western Red Cedar is superior to synthetic products in every way. While other building materials generate greenhouse gasses, Western Red Cedar actually removes greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere. Northern Sky Woodworks furniture is made exclusively in Los Lunas, NM, not imported! We also make porch swings, “mud-room” benches, and picnic tables for the kids AND the adults. If you have a particular design in mind, including custom scroll-saw work or engraving, contact us with your idea for a custom furniture piece! All our handcrafted furniture is built to last generations. We use only stainless steel fasteners and waterproof adhesives, which in addition to the natural durability of the wood itself, enhance the longevity of the outdoor furniture we build for you. All our furniture is shipped unfinished so that you can “make it your own” with whatever finish you want to apply! For a nominal additional cost, we are happy to finish it for you with whatever motif you desire. Contact us to discuss your desired finish. For UV protection, we recommend an oil finish such as Penofin “Verde”.
