That you’re supporting the Navajo Nation: If helping out the Indian arts is the driving force behind your desire for a Navajo weaving, good for you! You’ll probably want to narrow your search to contemporary weavers, since they see a portion of the profits from the sale of a rug. You can even ask your arts dealer what percent the artisan receives if it’s a major concern for you. And ask about the artist bios if you’re particularly interested in nurturing young talent.
