JTS Woodworking built, distressed, and antiqued the custom maple cabinets. Sandra had the durable and long-lasting marble countertops brushed so they would have a rough stone, dull finish. The furniture-style island with its hammered edge was stained black and hand-rubbed to give the appearance of a 19th-century freestanding cupboard. Pendant lights and under-counter lighting assure each of the workstations has sufficient illumination for the cook to complete his or her culinary tasks. Reclaimed heart pine planks were installed on the diagonal to visually separate the kitchen/dining room from the adjoining living room.
