#1 Elk River II
Log Home Living's 1st Annual Small Homes Design Contest
Elk River II | StoneMill Log Homes
With the Elk River II, it was love at first sight—literally. We could just imagine stepping inside the front entry and experiencing the visual impact from that straight shot of sightline right to the back of the home. A narrow hall leads to the living area, where the space opens up in a very purposeful way, flanked by the kitchen and dining area on one wing, and the master suite across the way. Two sizeable bedrooms at either end of the loft balance out the upstairs, and closets and extra storage space crop up in excess. Even though the square footage hovers just above 2,000, each room has enough space to make it feel meaningful—even the powder room.
Square Footage: 2,234

Nice layout. Reminds me of the now defunct Sunset Structures McKoy timberframe home.

Is there a rendering anywhere that shows the actual dimension of each room?

The best thing to do would be to contact StoneMill directly:

For my tastes, this is possibly the best combination of layout, size, and aesthics that I've ever seen. Would be neat to have some photos of the inside of the model shown above. Very cool! Hope I can afford to build one someday!

What is it that designers of log homes don't understand about the word "small?" We are wanting 1200 square feet or less. But I guess that isn't where the money is.
