Scandinavian Log & Timber Works is a company where quality and attention to detail are of the utmost attention. Limiting production to six to 10 structures per year allows owners Steven and Robin Estola to work closely with their clients from design through completion. This communication creates unique and distinctive homes, reflecting the owners’ personalities.
Primarily, Scandinavian Log & Timber Works builds in the traditional Scandinavian full-scribe style. Here, each log is individually notched, scribed and precisely fit to the natural contours of the log beneath it in the wall. The excellent craftsmen at Scandinavian Log & Timber Works also can produce squared log walls with dovetail corners or traditional timber frame packages with mortise-and-tenon joinery. Log or timber roof systems can be executed in any method from simple post-and-purlin to intricate hammerbeam trusses.
Log species used in Scandinavian Log & Timber Works homes are red and white pine and western red cedar. Log diameters range from 16 to 24 inches on the butt with a minimum 10-inch top.
Each home is electrically prepared and fully adjusted for settling. After being preassembled in the log yard, the home is disassembled and trucked to its destination where the same craftsmen who pre-built the home reassemble it on the foundation.
The company will sell anywhere in North America or overseas, but its primary market is the Midwest.
