Dream Cabin Showcase

Romancing the CabinTo make your special place unique:

  • Build up its character. Look for ways to incorporate “character” logs or timbers in your cabin. Burled logs, unpeeled posts or naturally curved timbers add whimsy and lightheartedness inside or out.

  • Carve it out. Commissioning a special carving for your cabin will inject your personality. Have the cabin’s date or a special saying or symbol carved into a prominent timber or log. Request a chain-saw sculpture of your favorite animal to watch over your garden.
  • Little things count. Hand-worked pieces will make your cabin a work of art. Support a local artisan by outfitting your home with hand-wrought iron hinges or fireplace tools. Look for handcrafted tiles, light fixtures or braided rugs. Show off the fruits of you own artistic labors, too.
  • Explore local color. With themed decorating, a fine line separates charming from kitschy, but it’s a cabin, after all, so why not add bits of local flavor? If you live in fish and game country, add a few elements of outdoorsy pursuits. By the sea? Look for nautical accents. Choose vintage or antique pieces for their authentic patina.

  1. Hi Patricia,
Our smallest floor plan search parameters are <1,250 sq. ft. to 1,250 sq. ft. Go to http://www.loghome.com/floorplans and enter those search terms in the floor plan finder box on the left of the page. That should bring you several dozen floor plans that may work for you.

Claudia, for information on log cabins in your area, visit http://www.loghome.com/companies. The companies listed will know more specifics about what’s available in your area and whether you can buy a turnkey home fully outfitted.
