The couple, both of whom are log home dealers, chose a different log profile from the house (a double- tongue-and-groove D-shaped log with a saddle-notched corner system) to give clients a sample of the range of possibilities.

The master suite boasts a 14-foot cathedral ceiling, a large walk-in closet and plenty of windows to let the outside in. Top-quality white-and-tan Berber carpet warms up the space. "We installed drywall and wallpapered this room to show clients that they have options other than wood," Sharon says.

The formal living room is a warm, inviting place where clients sit down for a chat. It features a comfortable Ashley sofa, and gleaming Kempas hardwood floors that extend through the kitchen and dining room to the staircase.

I have always wanted a log home and this is so beautiful, my only hesitation is how often the exterior needs to be treated? Has this changed at all? susanpariseau@msn.com Would love to have one built just for me.

This is exactly the log home I would like. Good floor plans. Is it possible to have traditional walls in some of the rooms of the lower floors? For example the kitchen and the dinning room?
Beautiful, thank you!

To Susan Pariseau
Use the best staining products on the markets, the products have changed over the last 5 years and they should be looked at every 3-5 years. If water beads up on the surface then you're ok. If not then a simple application or maintenance coat of same product should do the job. Usually it is only on the sunny side of the house and the shaded areas could last even longer. Take some simple measures to help it last longer too, such as overhangs of two feet, porches, keeping the logs dry by staying 24" off the ground and keep landscape materials off the logs. With todays products you do not have to strip the logs down to the orginal wood surface unless the wrong product was used or the maintenance was let go too long. If you wish to talk to me further you can contact me at barnacentalmi@charter.net I am the owner of the house in the article.
