Do you often find yourself looking at areas of your cabin and yearning to do something different with your cabin decor, but lack the funds and time to do anything major? Try a slipcover. These flexible, non-permanent furniture products provide a series of benefits both in redecorating and added coverage. Nichole Koszi, manager at SureFit (surefit.com), shares some of her observations and tips on why slipcovers may be a good solution for you.
- Bold options. Although most consumers are still sticking with neutral cabin colors for their longevity and flexibility, a slipcover can allow you to test new trends and ideas. “The problem with buying a trendy sofa is that you’re stuck with what you buy,” Koszi notes. “With slipcovers, you can be a little more daring. Lines will feature more trendy colors, so you can switch them out every season.” Still on the fence about colors or patterns? Use a neutral base, but punch it up with fun accent colors. “Mixing textures and patterns gives the room a decorator look,” Koszi observes. “The season’s latest accent colors are blue and coral, which can be added to a neutral room as an accent chair or accent pillow.”
- Stress-free cleanup. Between kids, pets and just heavy traffic, your cabin furniture is bound to take a beating. Spills and dirt can be a source of frequent aggravation. With a slipcover, however, all you have to do is throw it in the wash for a quick rinse, instead of worrying about any permanent damage to your furniture.
- Multiple applications. Consumers most often associate slipcovers with sofas, which enjoy options such as draped or stretch depending on the style of sofa and desired look. But slipcover solutions also are available for products such as accent chairs, dining chairs and ottomans to add a splash of color or pattern to your room or let you mix and match more easily. Furniture throws also offer another lower-priced, Koszi shares, including dedicated pet covers for added coverage on the seat, arms and back of your sofa.
