"Not all SIPs are created equal, and Insulspan is the best." --Sustainable Industries magazine, Top Ten Green Building Products issue, 2007

You've spent a lot of time and energy planning your timber frame, so the last thing you want is a sub-par system enclosing it. The Insulspan Structural Insulating Panel System out-performs traditional stick-framed construction and competing SIP systems by creating a super-tight building envelope that keeps conditioned air in and airborne pollutants out.

But it's not just our product that's the best--it's our process, too. Insulspan's integrated design and production, quality control and decades of industry experience and innovation have helped make ours the best structural insulating panel system in North America.

What are SIPs?
Insulspan Structural Insulating Panels (SIPs) are building components that allow you to build and super-insulate your home or commercial building in one step. Insulspan SIPs are a "sandwich" of performance-rated oriented strand board (OSB) structurally laminated to a continuous core of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation. The resulting panel is a super-insulator that vastly improves building energy efficiency compared to stick-framed construction.

There are three main reasons Insulspan SIPs out-perform traditional wall and roof systems:
  • SIPs' higher R-value keeps conditioned air in. The R-value of a wall or roof is a measure of its ability to keep heat from flowing through it. Higher R-value for walls and roof means less heat loss and less energy used for heating and cooling.
  • Fewer wooden studs mean less thermal bridging. "Thermal bridging" occurs when insulation is interrupted. In traditional construction the most common break is caused by studs, which not only create uninsulated areas in the wall, but act as bridges between the exterior of the building and the finished interior.
  • Solid wall and roof spans prevent air-infiltration. In wood frame construction, cavities between insulation and wood studs allow air to move through the walls and roof no matter how much batt insulation is used to fill them. This can not only result in energy loss, but also in condensation and indoor air quality issues. Insulspan's continuous core of insulation vastly reduces the movement of air and particulates.

Why choose Insulspan?
Insulspan's holistic approach to the development and manufacture of SIPs is what distinguishes us from the competition. We "begin with the end in mind," striving for excellence from design and engineering through to sales and tech support, to ensure our ultimate goal: your complete satisfaction. It's that process and commitment that prompted the editors of Sustainable Industries to declare, "Not all panels are created equal, and Insulspan is the best." That's high praise indeed, but we're proudest of what our customers say:

"If I had to do it all over again there would be no question in my mind that I would use Insulspan again."
--Ryan Barlage

"Some people dream of exotic vacations; we dream of staying home and enjoying our Insulspan lake home."
--Tom & Cathy Bloomer

"We are very happy with Insulspan, and we are confident that our home is top quality because of all the excellent care you gave at every point. You have a very happy customer here!"
--David & Susan Hart
