With a focus on simple, environmentally friendly solutions, the site offers gift-wrapping alternatives to the standard paper rolls lining retail shelves. From old tricks to information on recycled materials, you get clever solutions for hard-to-wrap presents.

Unsurprisingly, Martha has every base covered for holiday entertaining and activities, from Christmas centerpieces to Kwanzaa greeting cards. The user-friendly site is organized by holiday and further separated into subcategories, including recipes, crafts and traditions. Our favorite: the crepe-paper poinsettas for holiday foliage that's always in bloom.

Don't bother with a Google search: The Craftzine.com blog provides a collection of ideas from all over the web. We're fans of the quirkier projects, such as the "Quick Sew Funky Christmas Stockings" (made from an old pair of pants) and the paper-clip-and-felt ice-skate ornaments.

The kids can get festive, too, with family friendly activities from Disney's familyfun.com. The projects not only utilize many materials already found in most homes, but also note time estimates for better planning.
