The Highlights: - Designed to be completely self sufficient and off the grid, this plan includes a photovoltaic system, on-demand hot water, a ground source heat pump, low-VOC stain and clerestory windows to assist in natural ventilation and increased day lighting. – Even without the Earth-friendly elements, this single-level design would still be appealing. The open plan features log rafters over the living room, a detached double garage, three spacious bedrooms, a kitchen with eat-at bar and a rear entry drop zone. – The shallow roof line was designed to provide a stable slope for a living roof, which reduces the heating and cooling costs for the home, increases the lifespan of the home, reduces storm water run-off and filters pollutants and carbon from the air.
