Every Davidson home begins with a vision. Originating with a client’s specific desires and preferences for a dream home, or a finalized set of house plans, the vision is captured and given life by owner and artisan, Matt Davidson. Whether Scandinavian scribe, dovetail, piece-on-piece, or timber frame it is this vision of a final masterpiece that drives Davidson and his crew to create a home of lasting beauty.
Heavily influenced by early Norwegian and Scandinavian design and methodology, Davidson Artisans approach each work with an underlying commitment to historical integrity and regard for nature. With exceptional skill and inspired creativity the vision is given form. The size, bow, amount of taper, and grain of each log is closely examined, carefully hand hewn, and then precisely placed. Unique features of the wood are highlighted through specialized joinery or intriguing placements throughout the home. Distinctive framing techniques are applied to doorways and window frames and meticulous attention is given to every detail. Upon completion, the home is treated with the best environmentally-safe stain available to ensure the natural color and luster of the wood is preserved for many generations. When the vision is finalized, the trademark Davidson lozenge is applied and the work of art complete.
