hey mike!
we've been advised to build a home where the laundry and master bdrm. are on the first floor. we wanted to have open space too...so we have a great room with high ceilings and a small loft with a sitting room. we're not too old, yet! but i think we'll be thankful later for the advice : )

Our "flexible" floorplan will include a home office with a separate entrance. We will design the room so it will accomodate our business needs yet convertable, when we decide to "retire", to an additional bedroom with access to bathroom. More space for the Grand Kids when they visit in our rockin chair days!

I'm designing a small cabin like this one ( http://www.loghome.com/jack_hanna_log_home_tour/articles/1323 ) so stairs won't be a problem!

I'm designing my log home with near total ADA compliance and provisions for a future elevator. I am also working the design to hopefully accomodate a relative with Parkinsons Disease in as personal a space as possible, while still protecting my lifestyle and privacy.

ro,
excuse my ignorance, but what is ADA compliance?
