|Sometimes, it’s all about the views. How we situate our home on land has an important part to play in the way rooms live and evolve. Great design helps, of course, and the creative team behind the Bluff House, by Rocky Mountain Log Homes, understood that tweaks in a floorplan—including a dining-room cupola—make a home truly memorable. An L-shaped kitchen serves as a testament to efficiency (guests can sidle up to the breakfast bar) and proximity (the cook is never far from the great room’s action) in this open plan. We also applaud the spacious decks, which extend the dining area and the vistas it was designed to frame.
Another nice touch in the 2,317-square-foot plan: Bedrooms, including a mammoth master suite, are tucked quietly away from the main traffic flow. The basement is party central, with enough room for late-night poker or watching the big game while the fire in a cozy hearth roars.
