Founded in 1980, Bear Creek Log Homes has produced log packages for customers from Florida to Hawaii and internationally. We manufacture a full-round milled log with a Swedish cope. This particular style of log has been in use for centuries and remains in use because it works. Its round-on-round design provides a natural watershed and a truly traditional-looking log home.
We offer wall log diameters from 7 to 11 inches and can mill logs up to 32 feet in length. This extra length gives the customers greater flexibility in design and the ability to create a home with the unique character of handcrafting, but the ease of construction and economy of a milled log system. Structural and ornamental logs are available in diameters up to 15 inches, perfect for attractive accent components in both log and frame buildings built by Bear Creek Log Homes.
We use dry, standing dead lodgepole pine for our wall logs. Naturally air dried, its moisture content is less than 15 percent. Since they are no longer living, the removal of these trees makes room for the growth of new and existing trees, helping to keep our forests healthy.
Our milled logs are pre-cut, pre-drilled and counter-sunk for spikes. Through-bolting is available as an option. Two strips of closed cell foam are laid between each course of logs. Our corners are a milled saddlenotch, sealed with expanding foam. All log butt-joints are sealed with a vertical dado slot system. Dado slots are also cut at window and door openings. A splined sub-jamb system is used for installing windows and doors, which allows the natural settling process to take place while maintaining a weathertight seal.
For our customers who prefer the more traditional style log home, we also offer handcrafted log packages. Both chinkless full-scribe Swedish cope and full-round chink styles are available. Our handcrafted logs are also used extensively as structural components and architectural accents for frame construction.
A company representative will be at the job site to offer instruction and supervision for an appropriate length of time. Drafting services are available. A 40 percent down payment is required before scheduling. Final payment is due upon delivery. Shipping is available at current rates.
