Applewood Log Homes was named after the 20 acre apple orchard that surrounded the first log home that Don and Marlyn Shellabarger built in 1996. The site included about 2,000 apple trees, a country store, a cider mill, several gift shops and a bed and breakfast inn. It was an event to visit their model home. It had what most log home buyers want –open spaces, few walls, a loft and cathedral ceilings. Don designed it himself and others fell in love with all the extras. Don believes it is essential to show what a log home could be using the finest pine or cedar wood, stone and modern showcase windows that leave you breathless. He wants people to have the benefit of seeing the products up close where they can see the quality.
